Event launched to pick top 10 cases advancing the rule of lawThe selection process for the top 10 cases advancing the rule of law in 2025 officially kicked off on Thursday. This event is co-hosted by the Supreme People's Court, the country's top court, and China Media Group, focusing on cases adjudicated by courts nationwide from late 2024 through 2025. The goal is to identify 10 standout cases and 10 nominees. Ji Zhongbiao, spokesman for the top court, revealed that 50 cases have been shortlisted for the online voting phase after extensive solicitation and recommendations, which exemplify the court's commitment over the past year to modernizing judicial work and supporting the Chinese path to modernization. The cases cover a wide array of fields, including criminal, civil, commercial, intellectual property, and administrative, showcasing the judicial authorities' firm determination against crimes, guaranteeing people's livelihood and serving high-quality development, Ji said. He noted that the cases encompass not only high-profile issues such as telecom fraud, cyberbullying, and environmental protection, which are of significant public interest, but also address new challenges and emerging industries. The public can cast their votes on various online platforms, such as the top court's WeChat account, website, and weibo account, he said, adding that the result will be announced in a program by China Media Group in mid-February.
