Shen Changyu Meets with UKIPO Chief Executive Adam WilliamsOn November 18, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), held talks with Adam Williams, the visiting Chief Executive of the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO). The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on topics including the latest developments in the field of intellectual property (IP) in both countries, artificial intelligence and patents, patent and trademark examination, and IP finance. They also signed the 2026 work plan for bilateral cooperation. Shen noted that in the field of IP, the two offices have actively implemented the important consensus reached between the leaders of China and the United Kingdom and have maintained long-standing friendly cooperation. Since the beginning of this year, both sides have further consolidated and enriched existing cooperation achievements through a series of practical initiatives such as high-level visits, the UK-China IP Symposium, and patent examiner exchanges. The CNIPA is willing to continue expanding cooperation areas and deepening collaboration with the UKIPO to provide better services for users in both countries. Williams shared the latest developments of the UKIPO in digital transformation and support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. He expressed his hope to further enhance dialogues and exchanges, share valuable experiences, and deepen cooperation between the two offices. During his visit to Beijing, Williams and his delegation also visited the Patent Examination Cooperation (Beijing) Center of the Patent Office, CNIPA.
