Star AI unveils Starfilm global version, eyes business expansion

Artificial intelligence is creating new momentum for industrial upgrading and digital content production, a business executive said.

Speaking recently at the 2026 ASEAN Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum in Beijing, Zhang Wei, CEO of Star AI, said fast-evolving AIGC technologies are reshaping the global content industry and opening up new opportunities for scaled, industrialized and standardized production.

"AIGC is reshaping the underlying logic of the global content industry at an unprecedented speed," Zhang said.

He said AI video should not be used only as a simple creation tool or as a means to provide users with social media entertainment through short videos.

"It should become a new-generation AI video operating system capable of empowering various industries, especially providing scaled, industrialized, engineered and standardized production for fields such as film and television, entertainment, gaming, e-commerce and industrial manufacturing," he said.

Star AI, a Chinese company focused on AIGC, launched the global version of Starfilm and unveiled its brand renewal strategy at the forum, as it steps up efforts to expand in ASEAN and broader overseas markets amid rising demand for digital content and industrial AI applications.

The company said Starfilm global version is designed as a super AI agent for film and television production, integrating scriptwriting, character and scene construction, storyboard generation, video editing and rendering output across the production workflow.

Zhang said Star AI is committed to transforming cutting-edge AI video generation capabilities into new productivity that can drive industrial upgrades and support the global expansion of digital cultural content.

The company also announced a strategic partnership with Shanghai Suihong Huachuang Technology and Hobby, an AI-powered social and mental health platform.

Under the cooperation, Suihong Huachuang Technology has made a strategic investment in Star AI and will provide computing power support for companies in the ecosystem, according to the company.

Together with its partners, Star AI said it aims to foster a new AI video ecosystem and support the digital economy's expansion into ASEAN and beyond. (source: China daily)
